The rubber tree seed comes from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), which is native to South America but widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world for its latex. This latex is the source of natural rubber. The seeds of the rubber tree are relatively large and have a hard, woody shell. They can be used to grow new rubber trees, though commercial rubber production usually focuses on tapping the latex from mature trees rather than growing new ones from seeds. Rubber tree seeds are sometimes used for ornamental purposes or in traditional medicine, but they are not commonly used in large-scale agriculture.
